Our Mares - Where it all Starts

The broodmare band is the foundation of any successful breeding program. At Borderview, our mares are selected not only for their own physical attributes and performance potential, but for the richness and quality of the bloodlines they carry.

Each mare has been carefully evaluated for conformation (including HHSA Classification) and her temperament and trainability considered as an integral part of her value as a producer. Further, and perhaps most importantly for a broodmare, the map of her genetics through her pedigree must show that she is capable of reproducing her own traits, or can be paired with a stallion that will enhance her genetic strengths. Not only do we want to breed better sport horses, but we aim to also breed better broodmares — mares who are prepotent — creating genetic concentrations that give their foals every possible advantage to inherit greatness.
